At 0:36, the chorus recites what appears to be Rex, Latin for 'king' (or maybe it is something else? Anyways, this should be accounted for in the lyrics)

Obviously, a slip of the pen. The correct transcription should be We are writing in the year... The lead singer pronounces it as writing 'n the year... but it is clearly audible.

It was simply a matter of applying the ear to the actual song! ;) What the singer says is mortuis (Latin "for the dead" in the dative plural)

Yes :) To the best of my knowledge, at least.
Just another quibble: when we have 'domine' translated as 'master' - it's a fine translation, but this is a paraphrase of the Latin words of the Requiem liturgy. From the context, it is quite clear that 'domine' should be translated here as 'Lord' (i.e. God)
