Close To Distance lyrics

Once I could smile and look from face-to-face
I’d better see you nearer pain I feel than I’m embraced
The change was slow I'm half of everyone around
To feel a better child while anyone is choosing ground

And (I) tried it harder to get away
From all this schoolish kind of lifestyle hair
You all ignored the chance,
Beat and went around that bush,
“Well, who's the biggest shag in here?”
Sometimes I feel nearer when I am far away from you
And I do know right the looks I have –“teen”
Oh, oh, oh

To get this clear, you'll have to trust in me
And feel aborted with the foolish end that life is safe
Just spit it out, the pill of all the noise
Freedom wants forgiveness
And you nearly said you have no choice

And (I) tried it harder to get away
From all this schoolish kind of lifestyle hair
You all ignored the chance,
Beat and went around that bush,
“Well, who's the biggest shag in here?”
Sometimes I feel nearer when I am far away from you

You get that silence where I drown
While I'm hard to find that never-ending rhythm
Must show that you're the edge where you design
Won't you get me shout up for?
Won't you save me where I drown?
Sometimes I feel nearer when I am far away from you
And I do know right the looks I have –“teen”

See you soon
I save the rest for you
I save the rest for you
Oh, oh
See you soon
I save the rest for you
For you, for you, for you
I save the rest for you
See you soon
I save the rest for you
I save the rest for you
See you soon

"Well, who's the biggest shag in here?"

I think it's "shark", in German we got a proverb "Wer ist der größte Fisch im Becken?"
meaning "Who's the boss?" so "shark" would make totally sense to me...

Also this:
"From all this schoolish kind of lifestyle hair"
I heard:
From all this foolish kind of lifestyle here"

What do you all think?

;)

Yes I also hear "foolish". And also it's definitely "Save your soul" instead of "See you soon". It's a really an appreciable try of finding the lyrics of Anneke although she changes them all the time.

But she's not the boss and it's what matters. She talks about her hairstyle. Teens often make experiments with their hair. Her parents beat her for that and "went around that bush" meaning the mess on her head and asked "Who's the biggest shag in here?" "Shag" has another meaning "slut". So in this song the girl complains about her parents' constant abuse. Anyway, the singer's English is pretty good and "shark" would have sounded different. Besides, listen to the earlier full version of the song. The problem "parent-child" is voiced over in the lyrics.

I'm not sure if the word is "child" on "To feel a better child while anyone is choosing ground". I believe that the song is about someone who tries to get away from a bad-influence person, drug addicted etc.

Also, the word "teen"on "And I do know right the looks I have –“teen” " sounds wrong.
