Hey, hey, Kikor!
Gray and foreboding was the sky above the city,
Fiercely then did our enemies come down upon us:
The battle began, everything was swimming in blood,
You were the first to pick up your rifle in Krajina.*
Hey, hey, Kikor, Whirlwind of Majevica!**
With you Krajina became brave,
And would remain forever so.
Thoughts haunting you like nightmares,
You set forth along the Serbian Corridor.
And while the skies burned and blood kept pouring,
You were the first to enter Suljagić Lane.
Hey, hey, Kikor, Whirlwind of Majevica!
With you Posavina***
became brave,
And would remain forever so.
Majevica was calling, Semberia was wont
Of defending her hometowns again.
A song rang out, again there was much bloodshed,
The brigade wanted you to be the first in command.
Hey, hey, Kikor, Whirlwind of Majevica!
With you Majevica became brave,
And would remain forever so.
Your brave lads, who always accompany you,
Shall bring back Majevica her honour.
Standing by you are the heroes from your own hometown,
Whom Semberia entire admires.
Hey, hey, Kikor, Whirlwind of Majevica!
With you Majevica became brave,
And would remain forever so.

Song dedicated to Major (afterwards Lieutenant Colonel) Jovan Mićić, known as "Kikor" (b. Feb 5th, 1955, in Modran near Bijeljina), commander of the 1st Semberska Light Infantry Brigade of the East-Bosnia Corps of the VRS (Army of the Republic of Srpska).
A brave front-line officer and an extremely competent and bright commander, Jovan Mićić was decorated numerous times for his feats and services in the defense of his people.
After the war he quit the army and worked as the Head of Registry Services at Bijeljina. In 2013 he fell seriously ill, and died in Bijeljina on May 13th, 2018.
--
(*) It is referring to the Krajina in Croatia, given that Jovan Mićić had been an officer of the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army) prior to the war in BiH, thus being stationed in Croatia at the time. He then left the JNA and joined the VRS (founded in May '92) and became commander of the 1st Semberska Brigade. (After the withdrawal of the JNA from Bosnia in the spring of 1992, the JNA had allowed its Serbian officers born in Bosnia to leave the JNA and join VRS units established in their native regions if they wished to. Although a good many of them declined, another good many did volunteer for the VRS –Jovan Mićić being among the very first to do so. And, because there was a great lack of officers up till then within the VRS, these JNA-schooled officers often became the commanders of these newly formed units.)
(**) Majevica is a mountain range in northeastern Bosnia. During the 90s, it was the site of many of the war's bloodiest battles, and it's highest peak, named Stolice, was bombed by NATO in 1995.
(***) The region of Bosnian Posavina lies to the North of the Majevica mountains, to the West of Semberia, and to the East of Bosnian Krajina. The Sava river to the North serves as its border with Croatia.
Additional notes:
The "Serbian Corridor", also known as "Koridor Života/the Corridor of Life", was a strip of land along the northern border of Bosnia all the way from Semberia to Banja Luka in Bosnian Krajina. After an early joint Croatian-Bosniak offensive which severed the connection between these regions and left the city of Banja Luka without any power supply or road access, the VRS launched 'Operation Koridor '92' (June - October 1992), which was a round success for the Serbian side, opening access to Banja Luka and enabling the free transport of goods and medicines, as well as of refugees headed for Yugoslavia, along this pass of land. 'The corridor' continued to be defended and was never cut off again in the entire rest of the war, despite several attempts.
"Suljagić Lane" is in the District of Brčko (which is located between Posavina and Semberia). Heavy fighting took place here during Operation Koridor '92.
Semberia is the northeasternmost region of Bosnia. Its largest and most prominent city is Bijeljina.
Of all the VRS brigades from Semberia, the 1st Semberska Light Infantry Brigade was the first to be formed. Its headquarters stood at Bijeljina city.
