The streets of my sorrow

Everybody speaks their own language,
most often it wavers between Yin and Yang.
You hold me back, you put straps on me.
When you overdo it, I sometimes choke.

The words in my mind sometimes said more than I wanted
Just for once, let's wipe the slate.
Let's forget our beauties, we put our egos aside.
I want us to look each other right in the eyes.

I won't wallow in the streets of my sorrow anymore.
When I'm lost, I want you to bring me home.
I want us to be fine, I want us to go far
and hang around.
I won't wallow in the streets of my sorrow anymore.
Love kills, except when you fight hard for it.
I want us to do well, I want us to run far away
and hang around.

Voices are getting louder, we're spinning out of control.
Sometimes I mix up the friend and the lover.
Demons sing and prove us wrong.
Will I have to lie in order to protect you?

Ceaselessly tossed about by our tides,
waves threaten to carry our souls in the dumps.1
Stuck to our egos like Lego blocks.
I want us to leave some breathing space to one another.

Even when gusts of wind blow,
the best wheater is when you find shelter
and watch the stars.

  • 1. lit. "hanging from our tides, a wave in our souls that overcomes us". "vague à l'âme" means a feeling of melancholy

Great translation, but can I make one small suggestion?
We actually have the verb "to squat" in English, which means the same as "squatter". Or alternatively you could say "linger" or "wallow".

It's just that the verb "hang out" has good connotations. For example, you would "hang out" with friends. It implies a leisurely act. But in this context it seems like he's saying he won't "linger / wallow in the streets of my pain."
