I'd say, книга in this context should be better translated as "letter", "message".

Дејан Војвода
Развивај горо зелена
разшири гранки широки
ќе дојде Дејан Војвода
Со верната му дружина.
Малку ми бреме помина
ете го Јонче Битолче
со бела книга пишана,
и му ја дава Дејану.
Дејан ја чита насолзен.
Му вели Јонче Битолчe;
“Дејане, ти наш војвода
што книга читаш и плачеш?”
Дејгиди, Јонче Битолче,
книгава лошо пишува,
минале Турци - Черкези,
Дебарца ја изгореле.
Машките деца заклале,
убави моми турчиле.
Дејане, ти наш војвода,
за тоа гајле не бери..
Испрати книги секаде,
да дојдат наште војводи,
да дојдат наште војводи,
Дебарца да ослободиме.

Dejan The Leader
Grow, green forest,
Spread wide branches
Dejan the leader will come,
With his faithful band.
A little time has passed
There is Jonce from Bitola
With a white, written book,
And he is giving it to Dejan.
Dejan is reading the book, teary.
Jonce from Bitola tells him:
“Dejan, you, our leader,
What book are you reading and crying?”
Dejgidi, Jonce Bitolce,
The book says bad things.
Turks have crossed, Cherkesians
They have burned Debarca.
They killed the male children,
They assimilated the beautiful women,
- Dejan, you, our leader,
Do not worry about that…
Send books everywhere,
So that our fighters will come
So that our fighters will come
So we can liberate Debarca.

- Technically, Развивај means ‘develop’, but grow seems to fit English better.
- Jonce Bitolce (Pronounced Yon-che Bit-ol-che) is this character’s nickname, implying that he comes from Bitola. So I have translated it as 'Jonce from Bitola' where possible, but left the nickname intact when he was directly addressed to keep it more like natural dialogue.
- Literally ‘the book writes bad (things).
- Debarca (Pronounced Deb-ar-tsa) is a region in Western Macedonia.
- A ‘vojvoda’ (pronounced voy-vod-a) is historically, a distinguished leader of the rebellion, but that’s a bit hard to translate into a song.
To summarise the second half of the song, because it reads confusingly when translated:
Dejan the leader read a book describing Ottoman occupation in a region in Macedonia, and his companion Jonce tells him to send copies of the book far and wide, to gather the resistance and liberate the region.
