Володя,
The meaning of "now I long for yesterday" is that the man is longing for the day, when "she" was still with him. By now she's gone, and so has the "yesterday's" day. Saying that, the translation of the line as "осТАЛся вчерашний де-е-е-ень" revolves the meaning.
Besides, this translation breaks the rhythm. One cannot sing it flawlessly.
You need a 2 syllable word there. I think, maybe, "ушел вчерашний де-е-е-ень" or, considering that just 3 lines above there was already the word "Уш-Ла", maybe "исчез вчерашний де-е-е-ень."
А еще лучше (чуть ближе к тексту) может быть так:
"ЧТО ЖЕ я скаЗАЛ, что -
проПАЛ вчерашний де-е-е-ень".
Это хорошо вписывается в подобную рифму первой половины этой строфы:
"рассВЕТ,
отВЕТ "

There is no song, no poem that cannot be translated...No idiom and no speech...
Even though the Italians say tradutore e tradittore (a translator is a traitor), that only applies to bad translators...
If you use my translated lyrics, please quote my name and/or give my page. That's fair and in some cases the law. Thanks:)
