Original lyrics
Šípková Růženka
Ještě spí a spí a spí zámek šípkový,
žádný princ tam v lesích ptáky neloví,
ještě spí a spí a spí dívka zakletá,

The Sleeping Beauty*
The rosehip castle still keeps sleeping, sleeping
There's no prince hunting birds in the forests
Still she's sleeping, the cursed beauty's sleeping
A wild rose starts to bloom by her side.
We SAY on purpose to our children,
SO they can go to sleep with faith, calmly sleep,
THAT the castle comes alive and the beauty awakens,
Yet, she keeps sleeping, sleeping there among the roses.
Who'll press his lips against hers, who'll save her ?
Who'll make her, this pale young lady, his wife ?
Well, tomorrow you should go to her, stop believing in fairy-tales,
There's no prince, thus, you must go there yourself**.
We SAY on purpose to our children,
SO they can go to sleep with faith, calmly sleep,
THAT the castle comes alive and the beauty awakens,
Yet, she keeps sleeping, sleeping there among the roses.
You must go there on your own, you mustn't believe in fairy-tales,
The girl keeps waiting, asleep among roses,
The girl keeps waiting, asleep among roses....

Author's comments:
* Czech word ´šípek´ (n) / ´šípková´ (adj) literally means ´a (rose) hip´ (n)
while 'Růženka' is Czech name equivalent to English 'Rose'; thus, the song title uses the Czech play of these words that comes from the famous fairy tale.
** but it also means "you must go there ON YOUR OWN"
