Translation
Τhe stolen
A gypsy told me that i come from Aivali
and i remembered my grandfather's words
In Smyrnh my grandmother cooked desserts and spices
in my father's house
The time that i was younger,i often wondered
why did he always polish the chest
And before he died he told me to keep the key
and i saw his last look had fear
In Constantinopole in the church of St.Sofia, Virgin Mary always cries
for those you left with the ships persecuted.
In Constantinopole in the church of St.Sofia,a fire still burns
because muslims have borrowed our sacred things.
He left without trouble, but he was uprooted
i heard this word at first when i was six.
I asked him to tell me the story from the beginning
and as he talked blood was dripping from every word.
Τhat's why i opened the old chest
and i saw the few things he took with him, hidden.
Cinnamon, myrrh and water from the beach i think
and a bit of sand from the stolen land.
In Constantinopole in the church of St.Sofia, Virgin Mary always cries
for those you left with the ships persecuted.
In Constantinopole in the church of St.Sofia,a fire still burns
because muslims have borrowed our sacred things.
