You should mention that this song is actually paraphrasing a monologue from the end of playwright Hanoch Levin’s Suitcase Packers, in which all characters except one either die or leave the country. The speaker is one of the last to leave, if not the last (it’s been a while since I read it, can’t recall off the top of my head…).
