Original lyrics
No Hago Mas Na’
Yo me levanto por la mañana
Me doy un baño y me perfumo
Me como un buen desayuno
Y no hago mas na', mas na'
Después yo leo la prensa
Yo leo hasta las esquelas
O me pongo a ver novelas
Y no hago mas na', mas na'
A la hora de las doce
Yo me como un buen almuerzo
De arroz con habichuelas
Y carne guisada, y no hago mas na'
Después me voy a la banca
A dormir una siestita;
Y a veces duermo dos horas
Y a veces mas, y no hago mas na'
Y me levanto como a las tres
Y me tomo un buen café
Me fumo un cigarillito con mi guitarra
Y me pongo a cantar
A la la, a la la, a la la lara la lara
Y a la hora de la comida
Me prepara mi mujer
Un bistec con papas fritas
Con ensalada y mil cosas mas
Me lo mango y no hago mas na'
Luego me voy al balcón
Cual si fuera un gran señor
A mecerme en el sillón
Con mi mujer a platicar
A larara la la
¡Ay!, cuando se me pega el sueño
Enseguidita me voy a acostar
Y duermo hasta por la mañana
Y no hago mas na', mas na'
(Qué bueno es vivir asi, comiendo y sin trabajar)
¡Oigan!, yo nunca he doblado el lomo

No Hago Mas Na’
I wake up in the morning
I take a shower and put some perfume on
I eat a good breakfast
and I dont do anything else, anything else
And then i read the news
and i even read "las esquelas" (no se que es eso)
or I even watch soap opera
and I dont do anything else, anything else
By twelve
I eat a good lunch
is rice with beans
and meat. and I dont do anything else
and then I go to the bench
to take a litle nap
and sometimes I sleep two hours
and sometimes a little more, I dont do anything else
and then i wake up around three
and i drink a good coffe
I smoke a cigarrete with my guitar
and I sing
a la la, """"""""""""""""""""""""
And when dinner time comes
my wife cooks
beef with fries potatoes
with salad and a thousand thins
I eat it and I dont do anything else
After, I go to the balcony
As if i was a big man
to rock on the chair
with my wife to have a talk
""""""""""""
Ay! when i get sleepy
I go to bed right a way
and i sleep until the morning
and i dont do anything else
Is so good to live like this, eating without working
Listen, I have never "doblado el lomo" (idk what he means)
and dont was your time, I wont change, Oh no!
and I dont do anything else, anything else
People, i have declared a strike
my wife should paid for me! You heard?
is so good to live like that, eating without working
so good, so good, so good
is so good to live life
eating. sleeping and doing nothing else
listen buddy, do you know what it is to be in a rocking chair, rocking over and over?
Waiting to have the money from SSI
lIKE THAT ANYBODY!
Is so good to live like that, eating without working
Receiving pension for being crazy
I have no craziness, I am very smart!
They bring a plate of tripe
rice, beans, and meat to start
Is so good to live like that, eating without working
who will work? who, me?
Look for someone else, I already did was i was going to do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Translations of "No Hago Mas Na’"
English #1, #2
Comments

This translator (a) was not very active (did only 2 translations) and (b) hasn't been on the site in SIX YEARS. Which means the probabilities are vanishingly small that this translator will ever look at these changes, let alone actually discuss them and maybe implement some of them. So I'm planning on doing what I did in a similar situation with another song a few days ago, which is to just create a new translation. But before I do that, I'd like to get feedback on the changes I've suggested above.

The source lyrics have been updated. Please review your translation.
Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine. Stand With Ukraine!
About translator
My suggestions are subject to scrutiny by others and I accept and encourage all corrections of my corrections.
The translation needs to have the first word of each line start with a capital letter. Also, nearly every line needs to end with either a comma or a period.
Need to translate the title of the song.
put some perfume on > put on something that makes me smell good (the singer is a guy, guys don't wear perfume . . . at least, not . . . oh never mind, I better stop while I'm ahead)
esquelas > obituaries
soap opera > soap operas (plural)
is rice with beans > of rice and beans
and meat > and stewed meat
coffe > coffee
According to my secondary online Spanish-English dictionary (www.spanishdict.com) the Spanish word is "biftec" and the English translation is "steak." So there's an error in the Spanish lyrics as well as the English translation. Maybe. I defer to experts on this.
And just to be complete, my primary online Spanish-English dictionary is dictionnaire.sensagent.com/bienvenido/es-en/
fries potatoes > french fries
a thousand thins > a thousand other things
As if i was a big man > As if I were a big man -- Capitalize I + This is just about the only construct in English that uses the subjunctive. And if I'm reading my conjugation tool right, it's subjunctive in Spanish as well. There's actually quite a few places were "I" isn't capitalized. I'm not going to point them all out.
to have a talk > to have a chat
Is so good to live like this > How good it is to live like this
is so good to live life > How good it is to live life
I might even be tempted to adjust it a bit to "live life like this" or "live this life." Other opinions?
Plus there are parentheses in the lyrics that need to be preserved in the translation. At this point in the song, it becomes a sort of conversation between the solo singer, who has been singing alone so far, and the chorus. The lines in parentheses indicate that the chorus is singing them.
I'm going to take a stab at this but I'll take corrections:
yo nunca he doblado el lomo > I have never had a bent back
or: I have never stooped when I walk
and dont was your time > And don't waste your time (2 corrections there)
This line right below my preceding correction:
(Qué bueno es vivir así, comiendo y sin trabajar)
is not translated properly. Looks like a bad cut/paste job from the wrong place because this is a repeat of an earlier line. The translation, of course needs to be the same as above:
(How good it is to live like this, eating without working)
Plus the line appears in multiple places so my correction of the translation needs to be repeated as well.
I am not so sure about this. This is what's here now:
¡mi mujer que me mantenga! ¿Oíste? > my wife should paid for me! You heard?
I looked up "mantenga" & found the verb "mantener." Near as I can tell, this line is saying something about the wife keeping, in the sense of taking care of, the lazy guy. Nothing about being paid. Or is this some idiom? It also doesn't look to me like a complete sentence, which also has me confused. In any case, the last bit needs to be changed to: Do you hear me?
I'm guessing a bit here based on what I found in my dictionary:
Waiting to have the money from SSI > Waiting to get my food stamps from Social Security...
I'm making another guess here:
lIKE THAT ANYBODY! > Anybody can do it!
Receiving pension > Receiving a pension
I have no craziness, > I am not crazy,
Right after this line, there's 2 lines of translation missing. But they're just repeats of lines already translated.
and meat > and stewed meat
who will work? > Who is going to work?
already did was i was > already did what I was
Pretty funny song. The Wikipedia article on El Gran Combo says they remade this song with more politically correct lyrics. BOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
