- 1. The use of "aliviar" (to lighten or to relieve) as a way of saying "draw close" is not collected in the RAE dictionary, and as such is considered incorrect. This particular instance is a "gitanismo", a loan from "caló", the llinguistic varian of the gypsy people
- 2. "jaleo" usually means "tumult". However, in popular Andalucian music (from which this poem stems, as it is a popular song), the "jaleo" is a discontinued Flamenco dancing style, known by a lively, noisy chorus which the singers will usually excite with cheers and shouts (also called "jaleos", from the verb "jalear", to cheer on). The "bulería" and the "soleá" were the evolutions from this form. "Anda jaleo!" was also a common interpelation on the south of Spain to express surprise or discontent at a particularly noisy place or a particularly striking notice
