Becoming better
The runner doesn´t run just to get a place on the podium*
and the painter doesn`t paint for the greatest award.
And the swimmer doesn`t swim just to come futher.
No story gets told just to be the greatest.
Does really everything has to become better to be good enough?
Further, faster, higher, so it finally will be enough?
(tell me)** how can you get better, if it is so difficult to be yourself?
Only when you laugh, when you laugh the idea strikes your mind: It couldn`t be better than that.
Trust grows in you without looking at other people,
Your love, it loves without a "because" and a "why".
And all the pictures of us don`t need an altar,
because our fortune*** never asked for a meaning or a reason
And all doubts fall silent.
Does really everything has to become better to be good enough?
Further, faster, higher, so it finally will be enough?
Tell me how can you get better, if it is so difficult to be yourself?
Only when you laugh, when you laugh the idea strikes your mind: It couldn`t be better than that.
Only when you laugh, when you laugh the idea strikes your mind: It couldn`t be better than that.
more listening, more giving
more "we" and more living
more staying, more sharing
showing more heart in the detail
sometimes so less is more
and winning is another game.
Does really everything has to become better to be good enough?
Further, faster, higher, so it finally will be enough?
Tell me how can you get better, if it is so difficult to be yourself?
Only when you laugh, when you laugh the idea strikes your mind: It couldn`t be better than that.
Only when you laugh, when you laugh the idea strikes your mind: It couldn`t be better than that.

the german lyrics literally say: ...just to stand "on the top"
**
german "denn" in this context indicates that this is some kind of a rhetorical question because the person saying it knows, that it isn`t possible. The word "denn" also gives the question a reproaching and prompting. Therefore I insert "Tell me" at the beginning of the line, because there isn`t a proper counterpart in english.

"Glück" can also mean luck or happyness. It sometimes depends on the context.
