Cantiga No. 340 - Virgen Madre grorïosa

Virgen Madre grorïosa,
de Déus filla e esposa,
santa, nóbre, precïosa,
quen te loar sabería
ou podía?
Ca Déus que é lum' e día,
segund' a nóssa natura
non viramos sa figura
senôn por ti, que fust' alva.

Tu és alva dos alvores,
que faze-los pecadores
que vejan os séus errores
e connoscan sa folía,
que desvía
d' aver óm' o que devía,
que perdeu por sa loucura
Éva, que tu, Virgen pura,
cobraste porque és alva.

Virgen Madre grorïosa,
de Déus filla e esposa,
santa, nóbre, precïosa,
quen te loar sabería
ou podía?
Ca Déus que é lum' e día,
segund' a nóssa natura
non viramos sa figura
senôn por ti, que fust' alva.

Canticle No. 340 - Glorious Virgin Mother

Glorious Virgin Mother,
Daughter and Bride of God,
Holy, Noble, Precious,
who could know how or
be able to praise You?
For God is Light and Day,
but because of our base nature
we could not see His face
except through You, who were the Dawn.

You are Dawn of dawns,
Who make sinners
see their errors
and recognize their guilt
which prevents
man from having what is his due
which Eve lost by her frailty
and You, Spotless Virgin,
regained, for You are the Dawn.

Glorious Virgin Mother,
Daughter and Bride of God,
Holy, Noble, Precious,
who could know how or
be able to praise You?
For God is Light and Day,
but because of our base nature
we could not see His face
except through You, who were the Dawn.
