Mitko Shterev (Bulgarian: Митко Щерев, pronounced [ˈmitko ˈʃtɛrɛf]; born 28 January 1946) is a Bulgarian composer, arranger and pianist, who created the popular band Diana Express in 1974. Apart from that he composed approximately 20 songs for Lili Ivanova, some of which became one of the singer's most well-known songs.
Shterev and Ivanova's collaboration began in the early 1970s and managed to live on for several decades. In the mid-2000s, however, a personal dispute arose between the two artists. According to Shterev, the singer hasn't been paying him the required money for the authorship of his songs. Ivanova denied his claims, and in 2009, she released her autobiography, Истината ("The Truth"), in which she allegedly revealed some controversial details about the composer, who, in his turn, denied them and called Ivanova a liar. As a result, the dispute was taken to court by the singer, and it became widely known to the general public that Mitko Shterev banned Lili Ivanova from singing his songs. Ever since, the singer stopped performing his songs at concerts and including them in any of her albums (and, of course, ceased to collaborate with him entirely). It seems the dispute hasn't been resolved, because, as of 2021, practically all songs that were uploaded by many people on YouTube (the singer's channel included), have started to be taken down due to copyright claims made by the composer himself. Therefore, unfortunately, you won't be able to listen to most of the songs in this collection (in case a song is still available, it's just a matter of time to be taken down).
As the title suggests, the purpose of this collection is to gather all songs composed by Mitko Shterev and performed by Lili Ivanova. They will be sorted alphabetically. In the description box for each song there will be the names of the authors of the lyrics and the arrangement, the albums and their corresponding years the songs appeared in. If Mitko Shterev is the author of both the music and the arrangement, only the lyrics author's name will be mentioned.
