Original lyrics

'E 'Otua, Tataki Au

'E 'Otua, tataki au
Fakaulo 'a e maama 'i hoku loto
Pea ngaohi au ko e fetuʻu ngingila
Ko koe 'a e mālohi mo e māfimafi.

Lay down, my dear brother
Lay down and take a rest
I'm gonna lay your head upon your Savior's chest
And I love you, but Jesus loves you best
I bid you good night, good night, good night
I bid you good night, good night, good night.

Translation

O God, That Thou Mayest Guide Me

O God, that thou mayest guide me
Set the light within my soul
And shape me as a radiant star
For thine is the power and glory.

Tokoto hifo, jiʻeku tokoua
Tokoto 'o mālōlō
Ka u hilifaki ho'o 'ulu ki he fatafata 'a jiʻoma Fakamo'ui
Ko u 'ofa atu kia te koe, ka ko Jīsū ia ne 'ofaʻi fau 'ia te koe
Toka ā 'i he nonga mo e fiemālie
Toka ā 'i he nonga mo e fiemālie.

Hi. So I am aware that the letter J is no longer used in contemporary Tongan. Although, it was once used by my ancestors. So in a way, my usage of the letter is more of a homage to them. Welcome to LT! Hope your stay here is a pleasant one. :)
