“Lies” was EMF’s fourth single and their only hit in the US, aside from their chart-topping “Unbelievable”, peaking at #18. In their homeland of the UK, it is one of their nine top 30 hits.
Originally “Lies” included a recording of John Lennon’s murderer Mark David Chapman reading the lyrics to Lennon’s “Watching The Wheels” from a TV documentary, but Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono took legal action against the band, forcing the record company to re-press the album without the offending sample.
