He is a hero of a novel, he just doesn't know of which one. I would just leave it. Most probably it's done for the rhyme sake. "I have eye bags under my eyes"- it's nonsense.

I have eye bags under my eyes . It's make a lot more sence to say simply " and I have bags under my eyes" Also,"Mom, tend to my wounds" Actually , what is written in Russian is" Mother heal my wounds" Or Mum and not Mom.
