Translation

People of the town

Tonight don't grieve for the sorrow of yesterday or the day before yesterday or some year or some situation or some possession.
All of that has been scattered by the wind and become void.
By God! Regretting yesterday is torment.
People of the town, become conscious! (2x)
Whatever you have or don't have, put it on and dance and laugh,
For tonight in every alley there is God.
Write it onto the walls of your hearts: there's a God.
Not once, not ten times, but a hundred times --
Write it with faith and humbleness: there's a God.
There's a God, and there's a God, and there's a God. (3x)

Tonight, satisfy your thirst in every tavern.
Be enthusiast with the people of this alley and that alley.
The crazy and the reasonable, all together put your clothes on.
Strive together with joy: this child and that old cripple
And someone chained with fetters and women and men.

Whatever you have or don't have, put it on and dance and laugh,
For tonight in every alley there is God.
Whatever you have or don't have, put it on and dance and laugh,
For tonight in every alley there is God.

Tonight don't grieve for the sorrow of yesterday or the day before yesterday or some year or some situation or some possession.
All of that has been scattered by the wind and become void.
By God! Regretting yesterday is torment.
Alert the people of the town!
