Translation
The Cloud
Long, long, long ago...
(I)1 light up, breathe, then exhale again
No one else is needed, I have myself
Heaven feels closer...
(I) don't walk
(I) fly away now
(I) don't walk
I must go higher
Down there
It's cold there now
Up here
Here I find everything
How you are, so beautiful from here2
Yes you are, the most beautiful thing that ever wandered under clouds
So beautiful from here
(I) see it3, see it, see it from up here
Have planned and deliberately lost my phone
The ground seems so far away from here
I get closer
(I) see nothing
But I can breathe
(I) hear nothing
But I want to stay here
Come with me
I'll find something else
I live, just like the others...
How you are, so beautiful from here
Yes you are, the most beautiful thing that ever wandered under clouds
So beautiful from here
- 1. Although it's not stated outright, from the context I interpret it as the narrator having agency, so I let the grammar of the translation reflect this.
- 2. I let the translation of this sentence be just as grammatically awkward as the original.
- 3. Listening to the song, it sounds like she could just as well be singing "ser dej" ("(I) see you") as "ser det" ("(I) see it"). Both "ser dej" and "ser det" can be spoken as "ser de", but in writing it makes no grammatical or logical sense at all, so it's probably just transcribed the way she's singing it.
