Written in 1967 for the Nahal band in the IDF, this song alludes to Israel's strong wildlife protection laws, which designate certain flowers as "protected" from being picked.
However, the actual theme of the song, confirmed later by Shemer in interviews, is sexual harassment of young female soldiers in the IDF. The speaker in the song laments the fact that flowers and animals have more laws protecting them than women do.
