بغداد

بغـــــداد يا قلعة الأسود
يا كعبة المجد والخلود
يا جبهة الشمس للوجود
سمعت في فجرك الوليد
توهج النار في القيود
ويبرق النصر من جديد
يعود في ساحة الرشيد
بغداد يا قلعة الأسود
زأرت في حالك الظلام
وقمت مشدودة الزمام
للنور للبعث للأمام
لبأسك الظافر العتيد
ومجدك الخالد التليد
عصفت بالنار الحديد
وعدت للنور من جديد
بغداد يا قلعة الأسود
يا عرب دوخوا الليالي
وحطموا صخرة المحال
ضموا علي شعلة النضال
مواكب البعث والصعود
لقمة النصر في الوجود
عودوا لأيامكم وعودي
كالفجر في زحفك الجديد
بغداد يا قلعة الأسود
قد آذن الله في علاه
ان ينهض الشرق من كراه
ويرحل الليل عن سماه
وتسطع الشمس من جديد

Baghdad

Baghdad, O fortress of lions
O Kaaba of glory and immortality
O frontline of the sun for existence
I heard in your nascent dawn
The fire igniting within the chains
And victory shining anew
Returning in Al-Rashid's square
Baghdad, O fortress of lions
You roared in your darkest night
And rose, with reins held tight
Toward the light, the renaissance, ahead
To your triumphant, destined might
And your ancient, eternal glory
You stormed with iron and fire
And returned to the light once more
Baghdad, O fortress of lions
O Arabs, who have tamed the nights
And shattered the rock of impossibility
Gather around the flame of struggle
The processions of resurrection and ascent
The morsel of victory in existence.
Return to your days, and return
Like the dawn in your new march.
Baghdad, O fortress of lions
God has decreed from high above
That the East shall rise from its aversion
And the night shall depart from its sky
And the sun shall shine anew
Baghdad, O fortress of lions!
