There’s something every dad just can’t resist
That’s telling awful jokes that have a corny twist
You say “I’m hungry” then you wonder why
“Hello, I am Dad” was my reply
I can see you roll your eyes, but you slowly start to smile
And that is why I do it, I feel so satisfied
“Dad, I’m serious!” you say, as you start to beg and plead
“But I thought you said your name was… Hungry”
That day I went out and they cut my hair
I vowed right then: from corny puns, I would forswear
But then you asked “Did you get a haircut?”
Oh no, I could not keep my big mouth shut
Oh I tried to hold it back, yeah I really tried to stall
But something in my dad genes made me follow protocol
So I gave you my response in a slow paternal drawl:
“As you can see quite clearly: they cut them all”
Oh I try to hold it back, yeah I really try to stall
But something in my dad genes makes me follow protocol
So I’ll give you my response in a slow paternal drawl:
I’ll never stop these dad jokes: I know them all.

If you're a dad, it's your duty to tell dad jokes, even if your kids roll their eyes at you: it's necessary for their mental development. To the tune of "Hello" by Lionel Richie.
