Defeat

For giving free rein to my whims,
for not being aware of the abyss,
for that yesterday I made her eyes weep,
and today my eyes too are doing the same.

Through not weighing up the steps I was taking,
that's how I came to the course.
I betrayed the person who loved me
and now she must be1 as I am as I am with my broken heart

How do, how does it feel, heart,
if they beat you up now?
Treachery costs a lot, a lot, a lot
and in the end you paid for it.

For giving free rein to my whims,
for not being aware of the abyss,
for that yesterday I made her eyes weep,
and today my eyes too are doing the same.

How do, how does it feel, heart,
if they beat you up now?
Treachery costs a lot, a lot, a lot
and in the end you paid for it.

Through not weighing up the steps I was taking,
that's how I came to the course,2.
I betrayed the person who loved me
and now she must be as I am, with my broken heart

  • 1. I think he sings "esté" rather than "este"
  • 2. or perhaps "derrota" means "defeat" rather than course here? I resisted temptation to translate it as "disaster" because I haven't heard it used that way except perhaps here.

How do, how does it feel, heart → How does, how does it feel...

Aside from that, this is a very good translation. I think maybe that was a typo, the 'es' might have been overlooked.
