- Alemão: slang; people who doesn't belong to the favela; in this context, it means the policemen.
- DRE (alias for "Divisão de Repressão a Entorpecentes"): division of narcotics enforcement; Federal Police's department.
- BOPE (alias for "Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais"): battalion of special police operations; elite force of Military Police.
