The People's Dictator, Is that the reflection...: The meaning here goes a bit deeper than simply “looking in a mirror.”

The line “Is that the reflection you see?” does draw on the image of a reflection, but not in a literal, everyday sense. It is a metaphor for self-perception and self-justification. The poet is essentially asking Vladimir Putin: is this how you see yourself? do you truly believe you are a “people’s” leader?

The phrase “The People’s Dictator” is an obvious oxymoron. A dictator, by definition, suppresses the will of the people rather than represents it. Because of this, the line operates on several levels at once:

The mirror as conscience: who do you believe yourself to be?

The mirror as propaganda: is this the image you have constructed and promoted?

The mirror as irony: “people’s dictator” is a self-contradictory, almost absurd label.

In other words, the poet is not merely asking what Putin sees in a mirror, but challenging the very image he holds of himself—or wants others to accept.

IMHO -- There is a reference to reflection, but it functions as an allegory of self-image, political myth-making, and internal justification, rather than a literal scene of someone standing in front of a mirror.
