  • 1. in 1920 Azerbaijan lost its independence and joined the Soviet union. After 71 years, Azerbaijan regained its independence on October 18, 1991. Though, the black clouds hanging over the country didn't disperse, a year later Karabakh got occupied by the armenian forces
  • 2. refers to Karabakh, as the most precious thing
  • 3. refers to the March genocide or the March events which committed against azerbaijanis by armenian armed groups from the Baku soviet and Dashnaktsutyun, between 30 March - 18 April in Baku and other areas of Baku Governorate, as well as in Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Hajigabul, Salyan, Zangazur, Karabakh, Nakhchivan and other regions. According to official sources as a result of the genocide about 12.000 azerbaijanis were killed and tens of thousands went missing
  • 4. means "loving one's homeland is part of iman/belief" in arabic
  • 5. this is an arabic word which literally means striving or struggling, especially with a praiseworthy aim
  • 6. by the full name Arif Shirin, was a turkish lyricist, composer and singer. He also wrote the lyrics of this song as a poem. Later Dayirman performed it as a song
