Dear Tom, I have created Leoncavallo's page. I only attributed to him "Pagliacci". I'm only trying to put a little order into opera arias.

That's a good idea, Anna. I've been wondering whether to press for that sort of change for some time now, but thought I would get nowhere, because it potentially introduces some difficulties.
There is a potential problem, of course - when (for example) Gigli and someone else sing slightly different lyrics for the same aria. For example, the phrase in la boheme with the famous high C is "la speranza" for Gigli and for most singers, but is "la dolce speranza" with no high C in the original score and libretto, and some singers still sing it that way. Covers with distinct lyrics, but with the same aria title (Che gelida manina) and the same artist (Puccini) could try to turn up there, which could be a problem (current page naming would not work). It would be nice to have a fix to that problem, but that's something only LT admins could do, mere editors like us can't do it and I don't think moderators can either.
I agree. It could cause, but at the same time it helpes to solve some problem.
Actually, the variations that singers carry to the original words are quite rare and very little: we can stress these little changes, using footnotes or in another way. In this way, many repetitions could be avoided.
But the very reason that push me to re-attribute arias, is that I can't bear that many persons really think that the very authors of many famous arias are "Il Volo" or "Andrea Bocelli", ignoring the existence of both composers like Puccini, Mascagni, Leoncavallo etc. and of their lyricists.
Have a nice new year
A.
