Taking root

It's not very far from the city
It's not bigger than a peaceful heart
It's our roots

They have always stayed far
Where we can see an endless sea
& The future
& The future

Always wanting to hide our weakness from others
Wanting someone else to leave
Being afraid of coming back
Being afraid of becoming

We can love each other , leave each other
We no longer look like what we do
We can dream , wake up
We look like what we are

Wherever you are with me
& Wherever we go we will be three
Lack & us

All the suns of August months
The lack of what makes what we are
The absence of everything
The absence of ourselves

Always wanting to hide our weakness from others
Wanting someone else to leave
Being afraid of coming back
Being afraid of becoming

We can love each other , hate each other
We no longer look like what we do
We can dream , wake up
We look like what we are

We can love each other , hate each other
We only look like what we do

We can take trains
But we will always be able to finally
Reach tops
Taking roots

It's a petty tricky one to translate, not least because the French original is quite terse, and relies on a lot of shortcuts for meaning - the audience is left to fill in the gaps.
* "On ne ressemble qu'à ce qu'on fait" means, as appears once in the translation : "we only look like what we do" - in other words we are defined by our actions.
* I'd translate "se désaimer" as "fall out of love".
* "le manque et nous" would be better translated as "what we miss and us"
* and finally, the last paragraph is not quite right. More accurately, it should be: "Even if we keep taking trains [in the sense of travel on]/ that will only ever be so that we can at last/ reach the top [of trees] /take roots"
Hope this helps.
