Well, I actually had a problem with "You're part of the chance now"="Acum ești la voia întâmplării,". To be part of the chance to… means "a avea şansa de a (participa la ceva)". Maybe "Acuma eşti un jucător/un concurent"?
Apparently, there are custom made cigarettes: they're made with "custom blended, all natural tobacco that doesn't contain the chemicals, artificial flavoring or any of the other 559 additives approved for use in manufactured cigarettes". Live and learn! So it's "ţigări", not "trabucuri". My bad!
I still don't know what "to be part of the chance" means, so you might even say "acum eşti la butoane"…
Your version makes sense, though. I already gave you all the stars…
But since I don't know what the Bensonhurst blues is all about, I'd rather listen to the Romanian versions of this song.
"Pretend and pretending"… what's he mumbling about?
Wikipedia says: "Bensonhurst is a neighborhood located in the southwestern part of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. [...] Bensonhurst was stereotyped as a haven for Mafia members [...] Along Bay Parkway are many Chinese, Russian and Italian-American businesses as well as many residential buildings and co-ops." (your grandmother's accent :P )
Whatever, it's probably about some guy who becomes a big shot and then acts cooler than he really is in front of his old and disappointed friend. And then it goes like bui-bui-bui-bui-bui-bui (however one spells that in English).
Părerea mea este că strofa:
.
Those custom-made ciggies
That you offer to me
Pretend and pretending
To care about my family
.
s-ar traduce așa:
.
Țigările alea pe comandă
Pe care mi le oferi
Sunt menite să pretindă
că (tu) ții la familia mea.
.
Cu bine,
Valeriu

Prima dată am ascultat cântecul ăsta în serialul „Chinezul” cu Charles Aznavour.
