what is the song's main idea? kinda confuse why the man's died, and why there's opera? can someone explain me about this ASAP?

Caruso was the name of a famous Italian opera singer. His love life was very disastrous. This song was written not long before his death I believe. It is about his wife and him or some maybe say it's about his daughter and him. There is a very detailed explanation on Wiki if you google "Caruso"
