Overall, the translation is quite good, but to me it feels, like I'm reading a document from a lawyers office. For example the first line of the second verse. We are talking about song here, aren't we ? The sadness is not about...
Give yourself a bit of space to work with. Change the lines a bit, so it all sounds like a song. For instance: The day goes by, goes by the night,
The minutes are rolling like waves so blue,
It's not the point, it's not the point why,
I said I love you , only to you
Best Regards
Anatoli
I’m not good at poetic translations, so I don’t even try. If you can do this, maybe it’s better to add it as another translation? This site will display both of them (see #1, #2 for the Russian translation).
* The Ukrainian lyrics on this site are male version, as sung by Oleksand Ponomaryov et al., not the female version as sung by Sofia Rotaru. The male version has «я сказав «Люблю» лише одній тобі» (I said I love just to you), female version has «Я люблю навiк» сказала лиш тобi» (I said "I love you forever" only to you).
** Once again, the lyrics differ from Sofia Rotaru's version. Sofia Rotaru has «я почула в синю нiч твоє «прощай» (I heard your 'Farewell' in the blue night), while the lyrics have «наче постріл, пролунало те «прощай» (that "farewell" sounded like a gunshot).
