False tale
I learned to tell tales
In the school of tender age
It was later, still to the tales,
That I told tales with someone
You and I, in that hermitage,
We add up to happiness!
But one day I was followed
By treasons that life has
That they have more than life:
There was a man, I was tempted,
I summed up another false tale
I took the test, but I didn't pass!
One and one add up to two
And it is the sky, maybe.
There comes one more later
Two and one add up to three!
From the whole I drew the final lesson
To add, my love, I added,
But in love I failed
I did badly!
A treason, even to the traitors
Makes tales and true tales:
It multiplies our pains
And divides an affection!
In this height, you with me,
In reality, still remain!
I only ask you that, to the punishment,
You diminish what I say
In this black confession!
From a false woman that is sincere
Who awaits you but doesn't wait
To tell more tales with your pardon!

Hello, I think you have not really understood the meaning of "fazer contas", it means to calculate / to sum up. "contar" by itself has the double meaning of "tell" or "count" , but in this song's context it definitely is "summing up". Also the idioms "fazer contas com alguem" and "ter contas abertas com alguem" have the meaning of settling things.
