About translation requests:
I do not take requests for translating lyrics. I've done it a few times in the past, but I eventually decided to limit myself to publishing translations of lyrics (or poems) that are to my personal liking, either for a song's melodic or lyrical quality.

About me:
Languages and music have been my two main interests ever since I was a child. Combining my knowledge of them in order to make lyrics accessible in other languages brings me a lot of pleasure and satisfaction. It's both a process of self-enrichment and a way of being useful to other people.

I use this website mainly to keep track of my own musical and learning progress. My focus over time switched naturally from translating my favourite songs to adding lyrics (mostly Bulgarian) that are previously unavailable on the web, and making collections. Not all lyrics I've added reflect my personal taste, nor – especially – do lyrics that are politically charged reflect my personal political views, I add them solely for archival purposes.

I'm quite meticulous in terms of typography, grammar and punctuation. I respect the rules and particularities of every language, hence I do my best to put them into practice (provided the rules are clear enough). If you think I've made a mistake somewhere, you can notify me.

About my language proficiency:
I've studied a lot of languages (both natural and artificial) out of pure interest over the years, even such that I haven't selected. Those selected are the ones I've spent most time learning: mostly Indo-European (particularly Slavic and Romance), but others as well. Grammar has always been my primary motivation, less so vocabulary. Lyrics and music have worked out best in helping me keep that knowledge alive and make practical use of it. However, I prefer understanding a language when it's written or spoken, but not necessarily being able to use it actively myself.

My native Bulgarian remains my priority target language in translating. Any other language pair is either for the sake of practising my knowledge or a whim of the moment. Whenever I publish a translation from/into a language I haven't selected, it's because I'm (almost) fully certain of what I've translated. I research thoroughly before publishing anything, otherwise I wouldn't bother. All my translations are a product of my own knowledge and skill.

I prefer my translations to stay as faithful as possible to the original lyrics as long as they sound naturally. I've dabbled in making a few singable, rhyming and/or equirhythmic translations which you will find here.
