Sasha

Sasha enjoys reading,
[Reading] books of heroes and revenge.
Sasha wishes to be a hero.
And that is who he is.
He wears a hat,
With an ostrich plume
He takes a sword
And sheath's it to his hip. 1

Master of both word and blade,
He looks to his palm,
Where he came from afar,
And through the fire, he traveled.

Sasha duels,
For honor he guards,
Striking enemies with his sword,
He proposes the chat
He drives the bastards away,
Whipped, like cattle
Sasha takes the bastard's wealth,
and resends it to the peasants. 2

Master of both word and blade,
He looks to his palm,
Where he came from afar,
And through the fire, he traveled.

Women crave Sasha,
Sasha craves women, 3
And in the night, Sasha will clamber to women. 4
And then leaves in the morning.
Ladies in windows high-above
Drop flower petals,
For he is the fighter of justice,
And for his steps are light

Master of both word and blade,
He looks to his palm,
Where he came from afar,
And through the fire, he traveled.

He sings to the mandolin 5
He's handsome, like Appollo
Sasha can speak in Latin
Like Cicero. 6
He is unaware that,
there are boundaries he cannot cross
Sasha looks for a hunt
Killing the boars.

Master of both word and blade,
He looks to his palm,
Where he came from afar,
And through the fire, he traveled.

  • 1. It says "hook" but you don't hook a friggin sword to your hip. Or so the mall ninjas tell me
  • 2. If you look at it this way, the "bastards" or "scoundrel" took the wealth from the poor, so of course, he is resending it.
  • 3. Hmm, a woman named Sasha falls in love with our male protagonist Sasha. What an interesting concept. It's like Aaron falling in love with Arin, it's more like Sam falling in love with Sam.
  • 4. No, I do not condone approaching a woman's house, throwing rocks at her window, then mount the terrace and climb to her bedroom. That's Shakspearian sexism to Victorian sexism. It's not cool. Stay at home, there's COVID-19 you should worry about as-well.
  • 5. A string instrument
  • 6. Cicero was a Roman politician and statesman. He made speaks and other oracles that he spoke. Here, the line is more along the lines that Sasha has Charisma and speaks easy to others.

No. Sasha loves women, women (with different names) love Sasha.

My comment was meant as a satirical commentary on the nature of the song and gender naming schemes. Yes, women love Sasha and Sasha loves women. I was just saying "Wouldn't it be funny if a woman named Sasha falls in love with our male protagonist Sasha". Sasha is a unisex name so a male or a female can be named Sasha (Metro 2034 and 2035 (the book) has a female character named Sasha, while the video game Metro 2035 has a boy named Sasha).
