The Autumn Sun

Look how August's falling down from the apple trees.
It's the reaping. It is September.
The shore, washed by rain, birds got readied for burial.
Out of string of the mourning dates just this day,
Only this day is crying...
Look, how the winds are
Gathering the most forworn into flocks,
Lifting and twirling the leaves above the holy rood,
And look how woods, all ablaze, fade and slowly go out.
This is September.

The autumn sun's fading - death bed - surrealist.
The autumn sun's fading - reaping.
The autumn sun's falling down as dead tree leaves.
The spring will be someday tomorrow.

Look, how cranberry-witch dopes the marshes with blood red.
How haggish crows harass the Day of Ascension.
Look, how the fog dresses the lakes up in grave-clothes,
How the skies roll out the stars right on the water.
Look how tree branches and shadows lie down on the grasses.
How the moan of the bell toll whirls the souls above the church domes.
How they pray for the dead with bread and wine, how they send off
Summer...

The autumn sun's fading - death bed - surrealist.
The autumn sun's fading - reaping.
The autumn sun's falling down as dead tree leaves.
The spring will be someday tomorrow.

The autumn sun's fading - death bed - surrealist.
The autumn sun's fading - reaping.
The autumn sun's falling down as dead tree leaves.
The spring will be someday tomorrow...

I join in thanking you also. Such a haunting melody, such stirring and poetic verses. Death is truly the mother of beauty....

This song is a requiem for one of the K. Kinchev (Alisa's leader and lead-singer) musician friends who died young.
