Embrace me

Embrace me,
and don’t say a word, just embrace me.
Your glance is enough for me to understand,
that you'll leave me.

Embrace me,
as if now it was for the first time,
as if you loved me today as much as yesterday,
embrace me.

If you go away,
you will forget, that one day, some time ago,
when we were still very young, you fell in love with me
and I gave you my life; if you go away...

If you go away,
nothing will ever belong to us,
in just one moment you will take with you the whole eternity
and I will be left with nothing at all, if you go away...

Embrace me,
and don’t say a word, just embrace me.
I don’t want you to go, but I know very well,
that you will.

Embrace me,
as if now it was for the first time,
as if you loved me today as much as yesterday,
embrace me.

If you go away,
I’ll be left with the silence to talk to,
your shadow and the solitude
will be my companions, if you go away...

If you go away,
the whole time and my best years will go with you,
but I will always love you, more and more,
hoping that you’ll come back, if you go away...

This part: "Si tú te vas, ya nada será nuestros tú te llevarás, en un solo momento una eternidad" should be translated as "If you go, nothing will ever belong to us, in just one moment you will take the whole eternity". This you should also correct: "la sombra de tu cuerpo y la soledad"-->"the shadow of your body and loneliness".

Thank you for your comments.

As I haven’t wrote mine before, then let me explain now. There were already two English translation before, so I decided to make my more as a kind of an interpretation and not a literal translation. At the same time I tried to do my best not to use the same expressions, that were used in these other translations. After reading your comments I realized, that I went too far, so I made some changes.

As for the first comment - for sure I overdid it. I have changed it now following your suggestions.

As for the second - I did it deliberately, not wanting to repeat what the others wrote, so I’m going to leave it as it is. It doesn’t really matter whether one writes “the shadow of your body” or “your shadow” - the meaning is the same. Again - “solitude” means “loneliness” and it sounds closer to “soledad”, so it was an obvious choice.

Have a look now.

Anyway, this song was a “must” for me, a kind of a tribute to my big love. I use her name as a nick name on LT and I have translated this song also to German and Polish. In both these cases there were no other translations, so I did them more literally, avoiding the problems, that I had here.

Thanks again :) .

I am with you Aldefina, and I like "solitud", that's the word I wanted to use in "Soledad, María Soledad" In that verse, "Soledad, what a sad solitud...", but somebody else did the translation
