On different ways

Yeah
Dum dum dum dum, dum dum dum dum

You want to walk, I'd rather spring
When you talk, I want to sing
You're putting roots, I need to fly
We hushed-up the silence around us
Where has the love gone

I'm feeling young, you're feeling old
So we're falling over, we're lacking hold
We need to move
I agree, you refuse
We're going on different ways

My heart beats faster than yours
They stopped beating as one
We shine brighter alone
Maybe it has to be this way

My heart beats faster than yours
They stopped beating as one
We shine brighter alone
Maybe it has to be this way

Dum dum dum dum, dum dum
We are a ritual that got stuck,
burning stronger and stronger
I'm not asking anymore
What keeps us together or apart
Because I know, we're going in circles

We need to breathe, to grow again
Until the old shells burst
And where we meet our self
We're falling straight into life
We're going on different ways

My heart beats faster than yours
They stopped beating as one
We shine brighter alone
Maybe it has to be this way

My heart beats faster than yours
They stopped beating as one
We shine brighter alone
Maybe it has to be this way

I let you go I will love you
You have stayed a part of me
I let you go I will love you
Free - I will love you

My heart beats faster than yours
They stopped beating as one
We shine brighter alone
Maybe it has to be this way
Maybe it has to be this way
Maybe it has to be this way
This way, this way, this way
Dum dum dum dum, dum dum dum dum

my interpretation within context for the line....Du willst gehen, ich lieber springen = You want to walk, I love running

Du schlägst wurzeln, ich muss fliegen = you suggest settling down, I must fly

Das immer stärker brennt = that kept burning stronger that way

"You're putting roots" => "You're putting down roots" is grammatically more correct, but your translation is artistically feasible, too. If you worry about keeping in time with the original beat, you can also say "You're growing roots".

"We hushed-up the silence around us" => "We hushed up the silence around us"

"We shine brighter alone" => "We shine brighter on our own" may be even closer to the original meaning. But I'm not 100% sure if Bourani meant "We shine brighter without someone else" or more specifically "We shine brighter without one another" (I tend to the latter). In the latter case, "on our own" conveys the original meaning slightly more precisely (and still rhymes ;)).

Thank you very much for your conscientious corrections and your thoughtful comments. They are highly appreciated and I agree that "We shine brighter on our own" would be the better choice (and it even rhymes!).
