Pigeon Feeding Time
Click to see the original lyrics (Tongan)
Feeding the pigeons out in the sun
Wandering about Taufa street
Just flirting 'round the road
And cooing o'er the small thatches
Your rebellious soul contained,
Yes, even the pretense of a silver string.
Chorus:
Wearing my fahina1lei
The sweet fragrance, bathed in still, emerald hues
Your procession through the corners of the sky
When the flower withers
The siale5will begin to bud
The pipitongi6lurking 'neath the shrubs
Oh, its sweet scent
The nusi7and heilala
The perfume of someone who happens to be my lover.

Author's comments:
Even in its literal form, many parts in the lyrics don't make any sense to me. I'm guessing this is a 'heliaki' or a style of writing that is popular in traditional Tongan songwriting, in which there is a hidden or double meaning to a certain word or phrase.
Take for example the word 'lupe' (pigeon/dove) which is also a slang term for a beautiful maiden. The names of the various plants may also have some hidden meaning[s] behind them, as well. Any insights in this matter is much appreciated.
Requested by Luzk. Thank you and enjoy. :)
