Cubibibibism

I'll paste a collage of fiction
Onto this huge white canvas
I'll paste-- I'll paste-- I'll paste-- I'll paste--

It'll look pretty from any angle
This image of an over-exaggerated
Angel, angel, angel

I'll paste, I'll paste, a collage of fiction, collage of fiction
I'll paste, I'll paste an angel
I'll paste, I'll paste, a collage of fiction, collage of fiction

I'll paste an angel, an angel

A bunch of roses, roses, roses, roses
Roses, roses, I can tell

For the sake of staying alive, for the sake of staying alive
For the sake of staying alive, for the sake of staying alive
For the sake of staying alive, for the sake of staying alive
For the sake of staying alive, for the sake of staying alive, for the sake of staying alive

A bunch of roses, roses, roses, roses

An over-exaggerated angel
Angel, angel, angel, angel

Terri-terri-terrible work of art
That's-- That's-- That's okay
Such meaningless linework, but it's not like you can erase it now

Cut and paste, cut and paste, cut and paste
Skin, skin, skin, skin
Lala la la la la lala

I was transfixed along with the oldies beside me
I was transfixed along with the oldies beside me
I was transfixed along with the oldies beside me" Transfixed
I was transfixed along with the oldies beside me
I was transfixed along with the oldies beside me
Wishing to be a work of Cezanne
As long as you're young, deception and lies
Might actually have some real meaning to them

All clinging to reality ever did was corrode me, leaving me dying on the floor
All clinging to reality ever did was corrode me, leaving me dyi--
Dying, dying, dye ing
Dying, dying, dye ing

Like this, I'll be stained red forever, but it's better this way
Like this, I'll be stained red forever, but it's better this way
Like this, I'll be red forever, it's better this way
Like this, I'll be stained, it's better this way
Such nasty linework, even now...

An angel

Cut and paste, cut and paste, cut and paste
Skin, skin, skin, skin
Lala la la la la lala, la la la la la, myself
Tightly embraced, tightly embraced, tightly embraced
Void-- Skin-- Void-- Skin-- Void
Lala la la la la lala, la la la la on the miserable wall
A Pablo, Pablo Picasso

I'll paste, I'll paste, a collage of fiction, collage of fiction
I'll paste, I'll paste an angel
I'll paste, I'll paste, a collage of fiction, collage of fiction
I'll paste, I'll paste an angel

just wondering how you managed to get this as a translation? because it seems like nearly every line in this is inaccurate.. did you use machine translation or something??

Hi, I am just wondering (actually not), what's up with the gross exaggeration when commenting on another person's translation? In this niche hobby of ours, superlatives like "nearly every line" should be avoided (does it mean every line or 90% of the lines?). Also, the claim "your translation reads like a machine translation to me" is at best meaningless, and at worst, a bannable offense on this website.

It is best if we just list out the things that we are not satisfied with.

Background
I saw this comment, then saw that the translation was from a user that I am somewhat familiar with. I checked the first three lines and didn't find anything unusual about them (compared to the existing style of translations).

Why this is happening?
The comment is written in the style of a young person. It lacks details which reflect on the author's own priority of not putting effort into their writing (perhaps they are busy, as are many with academic workload). The author is brazen (not a bad thing) and nonchalant while on a website where the author is unfamiliar with its culture, and has committed faux pas (regarding the claim of "machine translation"). A more mature author would have the prudence to develop tack and politeness in their writing (though this usually comes with practical experiences, so it's a chicken-or-egg problem).

Apologies for coming off as rude, it wasn't my intention at all. i was just curious on OPS translation methods, as whenever reading off their work it seems inaccurate/a little off, coming from a standpoint of the original lyrics. The way it's translated feels kind of odd to me, ill state some lines;

One thing I notice is that with the Japanese lyrics of how they formatted it, the ending part is put into a different line, so it reads as though its not part of the original line ( 虚構のコラージュを 貼るよ 貼るよ 貼るよ 貼るよ rather than 虚構のコラージュを 貼るよ 貼るよ 貼るよ 貼るよ) which imo, makes it harder to read.

Next, the lines during the kind of breaks during the song are translated in a way that doesnt really fit with the choppiness imo "虚構の 虚構の 貼るよ 貼るよ" - "I'll paste, I'll paste, a collage of fiction, collage of fiction" technically, the line "虚構の" translates to just fiction, as the collage part is not mentioned, and i dont think that really needs to be said PERSONALLY. Also, fiction comes first, and with the choppiness of the song, i think it's fine to leave fiction at the start, even if its not grammatically correct, as again, it is chopped up.

The same can be said for the rest of the break part, with "天使 天使 貼るよ".

For the next line, "薔薇 薔薇 薔薇 薔薇" I'm not sure where the "a bunch of" comes from, as nowhere in the line is it stated really the quantity from what I can tell (I mean, I'm also not fluent so maybe there IS something I'm missing, but from what I can see, it doesn't seem like that.)

Now, with the choppiness of the song, it seems like OP miight have not taken the original lyrics into mind when translating this part, of course, I can't speak for them, but it seems to me like the line "生きるため" is translated oddly. "For the sake of living" doesn't seem right to me. Going off a translation ive already seen, the original line being "生きるため立ち寄った美術館のセザンヌに" which what I've seen is translated as "At the Cezanne museum where I stopped to live" wouldn't this line better translate as "to live" ? I mean, of course it is personal preference, but it seems like making a entire line out of a part chopped up doesn't make much sense to me personally.

Now, since this next line is reversed and cut I can understand where a lot of confusion can arise. The original lyric "たっだうそとっき" reversed back to "きっとそうだった" translating to "I know I did" or "I'm sure of it" depending on context makes more sense to me PERSONALLY than "Like this, I'll be stained red forever!" which to me, even from the original full line "赤ずっと塗り込んだ バカ きっとそうだった" has no correlation. Again, maybe I'm translating it wrong, and if that's the case, forgive me.

Thats the end of what I'm going to say at the moment since I'm pretty busy right now, but this is how I see things, and I hope this give more detail onto my thoughts of why I think this translation is inaccurate instead of my previous comment of no detail, thanks :)

1. ため tame by default means "for the speaker's benefit".
2. 生きる ikiru is a word that has too many meanings (to live, survive, continue, etc.)
3. Regarding "At the Cezanne museum where I stopped to live", did the singer died at the museum?
a. Should'a be "stopped by".
b. 美術館 means art gallery.
c. In the first song, the singer planned to paint a giant collage (line 1,2). However, she realizes her shortcoming (line 3). So, in order to survive (live through) her endeavor, she visits an art gallery (line 4). The rest of the song takes place (per my interpretation) in that art gallery.
