Hyenas

Once, if I remember well, my life was a feast where all hearts opened, where all wines flowed.
One evening, I sat Beauty upon my knees
- And I found her bitter
- And I insulted her
I armed myself against justice
I fled
O sorcerers, O misery, O hate, it is to you that my treasure was entrusted!
I managed to make all human hope disappear in my spirit
I did the deaf leap of the ferocious beast on every joy to strangle it
I beckoned executioners to bite into the butts of their rifles as I perish.
I sent for plagues to smother me with sand, with blood.
Misfortune was my god.
I lay down in the mud.
I dried myself in the air of murder.
And I played some good tricks while mad
And the springtime supplied me with the awful laugh of an idiot.
But, very recently, I was found on the point of making the last bum note[?]
I thought of searching for the key of the ancient feast, where I would perhaps capture my appetite again.
Charity is this key.
- This inspiration proves that I dreamed!
"You will remain a hyena, etc..." exclaims the demon who will crown me with such lovely poppies. "Win death with all your appetites, and your egoism and all the seven deadly sins."
Ah! I took it.
- But, dear Satan, I beseech you, a less irritated pupil! And awaiting some small cowardice late, you who loves the absence of descriptive and instructive faculties in the writer, I detach for you some hideous pages of my notebook of damnation.

Hi, I'm not sure about those, so correct me if I'm wrong :)

I managed to disappear all human hope into my spirit: can you say that, 'I managed to disappear all...'? I would have thought 'I managed to make all human hope disappear in my mind'. Also, I'd say 'in' instead of 'into', 'cause the point is to make the hope that's already there disappear, not make it disappear and go into his mind (or maybe I'm getting confused with my English...)

To strangle on every joy, I did the deaf leap of a ferocious beast: I did the deaf leap of the ferocious beast on every joy to strangle it...or something like that.

And also, some details:

I sent for executioners, perishing, to bite into the butts of their rifles.: I beckoned executioners to bites into the butts of their rifles as I perish.

I lay down upon the mud.: in the mud?

à la folie = madly (ex. Je t'aime à la folie)

m'étant trouvé sur le point de faire le dernier couac!: The way I understand it, he was about to snuff it.

I dreamed of searching : I considered/thought about

You will stay a hyena: remain?

en retard: late (as in being late)

I detach from you: for you

Yes, you're right re "disappear" - you'd never guess I was a native English speaker by what I write sometimes. :P

Is "couac" correctly translated a "bum note"? How would one snuff such a thing?

Haha, I guess I meant the guy was about to die. I don't even know what a 'bum note' is to be honest. Nor what the 'couac' thing is... Useless comment, what can I say, I have my moments too xD.

Haha, yes, I know the expression "to snuff it", and when I read it out aloud there, I knew immediately you meant "to die" and wondered why I'm thinking of snuffing drugs!!!! I can only guess that he means he's about to screw up for the last time or something.

A bum note is a note (in music) that has no place or is something that is played badly, in disharmony. In Spanish it's discordancia.
