  • SATOR AREPO TENET OPERA ROTAS:

Taken from the Sator Square, more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sator_Square

  • Iorð biðak varðæ:

Translated as 'I pray earth to guard', according to MacLeod in "Runic Amulets and Magic Objects".

It is from the Ribe healing stick (Rundata signum DR EM85;493, also known as DK SJy41).

  • Sun ar tirs or reid Ar reid ar birk or Tir ar non ...:

Runes spelling 'SATOR, ARABO, TANAT, OBARA, ROTAS', possibly in Younger Futhark.

The spelling of each word here is from Ole Worms “Runir seu Danica Literatura Antiqvissima”. Source: p.84 or p.102 on archive.org's copy

  • Áins Twái Þrija Fidwōr Fimf:

One, two, three, four, five in Gothic.

  • Stórráðr:

Possibly meaning 'wise' or 'high minded' according to the translation of a line from the Völsunga saga at voluspa.org.

  • Læknæs hand Ok Lif Tungæ:

Translation from Wikipedia: medicinal hands and healing tongue

Translation from 'Runic Amulets and Magic Objects': leech-hands and a healing tongue

From the Ribe healing stick (Rundata signum DR EM85;493, also known as DK SJy41).

  • AGLA guþt:

'AGLA' is an acronym for Ata Gibor Le’olam Adonai (אגלא), found inscribed on Bergen rune stick (N 636) and others, along with 'guþt' (god) and the words Sator Arepo.

  • Pax Portantibus / salus Habentibus:

    Bergen rune stick N B583.

Translated as 'Peace to the bearers, health to the owners'.

Submitter's comments:

Tenet is a palindrome that can be played backwards and forwards individually.

I believe “rauð” can also mean gold (rauðr in Old Norse).

House of Gold, given context, could make sense.

“Habēns” is to hold, so I think “Habentibus” may be holders or owners. In context, this may be the word “bearers” on the rune stick, unless I’m misreading (which may be the case as I’m on my phone and the double asterisks appear to be next to this one).

that could make sense! and yes i've seen the annotation rune stick now, very helpful context Regular smile
