Charming violin (Ukrainian folk song)

A bird of white wings was landing on a poplar,
Sun was setting in the evening o'er fields
I fell in love, and I loved with all my heart
I fell in love with a young and handsome violinist.

I fell in love being bewitched by the music,
Sounds of music were lost there among the trees
I was walking down the forest in the springtime
I was carrying my heart to the violinist.

I went to him like a beautiful moon princess,
I went to him like Spring comes after the snow
But I didn't know that those sounds of a charming violin
Not for me played, they played for some other girl...

A bird of white wings was landing on a poplar,
Sun was setting in the evening o'er fields
I fell in love, and I loved with all my heart
I fell in love with a young and handsome violinist.

1). Bird of white wings was landing to the poplar - A bird of white wings was landing ON A poplar (and, rather "landed" then "was landing", but the size of the line will be too small)

2). I fell in love with -A- young and handsome violinist

3). Sounds of music lost somewhere among the trees - that's right, WERE lost (The Passive voice is needed)

Maybe: Sounds of music were lost there among the trees

4). Not for me played but for some another girl - either "for another girl", or "for some other girl"
Maybe: Were not for me, they were for another girl.
Or
Not for me played, they played for another girl
Or maybe you'll make up something more lyrical :)

Thanks, Kate! Your suggestions are reasonable and helpful.
I accepted all of them.
The only thing, where I would like to defend my point of view, is "was landing".
Since the first two lines are an "introduction", that describes the common atmosphere of the song, the "Past Continuous" fits better here. Even notwithstanding the fact that there is definitely "Past" in the original.
