She is Indonesian but the location says that she is in New Zealand. About the diacritics you are right, maybe she wrote the lyrics quickly without using them, I am going to ask the disney reo maori account if they can review the lyrics and fix adding the diacritics. This is the most accurate lyrics there is at the moment.
There is also a Maori dictionary in which we ourselves can check the correct spelling of the words, with the diacritical marks they have.
[@SilentRebel83] Maybe you can help?
Hi, Ellen. Of course!
So I did find some missing diacritics here and there, and some minor orthography errors. But it looks good for the most part. I did notice one thing -- the "ng" consonant, which is prevalent in Te Reo isn't found here. And the use of "Aoraki" instead of "Aorangi" or "Rakitūhāhā" instead of "Rangitūhāhā" suggests this is the northern Māori dialect.
Suggested diacritic addition/corrections (sidenotes):
Block 1; Line 1 - Mumura nā te hukapapa i te pō uriuri (I'm assuming the same rule applies in Te Reo as it does in Tongan, but "na" is never used on its own, but usually as a passive suffix. Instead it'll always be "nā" -- ex. The ice [there (from the speaker's vantage point)] glows in the dark night. Also, "pō" (night) is always used; "po" has no meaning on its own, unless (specifically in Tongan) used as poʻuli (dark, night))
B1;L2 - He pā tū taratahi
B1;L4 - Nau ai iho āki kapu keri ai
B2;L2 - Whiri ki tō ake huanui (You need "huanui" from L3 to complete the sentence, and it also rhymes with "tawhiti" from L1)
B2;L3 - He taea whio ana te hou (corrected for orthography)
B3;L2 - Au te puritia anō
B4;L1 - Hai rū kei kao tōrere
B4;L3 - Aoraki matatū ake nei
B5;L2 - Mai tōna turua
B5;L3 - Ka rere i ka tai, ka taui (separated "rere" and "i"; comma needed between "ka tai" and "ka taui")
B5;L4 - Ka ū manawaroa
B6;L1 - Kia kitea e au āku whatu (The possessive "i au/iau" in "Kia kitea i au" doesn't make sense. The singer doesn't really enunciate that part really well, but I suggest this line instead)
B6;L2 - He aha rā kei tua atu ("rā" is always used, "ra" has no meaning)
B7;L2 - Au turuturu te mara tai (separated "mara" and "tai" for orthography)
B7;L4 - Aue kia ora nō ai
B9;L1 - Whakairotia aku kura tipua
B9;L2 - Whakairotia atu ki te rakitūhāhā
B9;L3 - E noho ai au i te āhuru kaka
B9;L5 - Te ona mana
B10;L2 - Au ake i te awatea
B10;L4 - Torotika ki te rā
B11;L3 - Aoraki matatū ake nei
Hope this helps.
Friendly regards!
It helps so very much, thank you! I thought we would never get these lyrics right, thanks!
Just for your interest, Elsa in this dubbing uses the Ngāi Tahu dialect, as do all inhabitants of Arendelle. They said they chose this one dialect because of all its vocabulary on ice and snow. You're welcome, Anna.
Ah, that makes sense now. Yeah, I'll check that link out. Thank you!
