The blue scarf
I recall this memorable evening
when your scarf fell from your shoulders,
how you saw me off
and promised
to keep this blue scarf always.
And even though you're not
with me today, my dear, my love,
I know that you still wrap lovingly
this blue scarf
around the bedhead.
When I receive your letters,
I hear your voice so full of life.
And, between the lines,
the blue scarf
appears before me again.
And often, during the fight,
your figure accompanies me.
I feel you close to me,
with your loving eyes,
you never leave my side.
How many precious scarves
do we carry in our trenchcoats!
We remember tender words,
and young girls' shoulders
amidst the sufferings of the fight.
We fight for them, our beloved,
for whom we long so much.
The soldier fires his machinegun
for this blue scarf
which rested once on beloved shoulders.
