The Gardens in March

The cart used to pass and that man shouted "Ice-cream!"
By the 21st of the month our money was all gone
I used to think of my mother and reminiscent about her dresses
The most beautiful was black with flowers not yet withered

Outside the school the children used to sell books
I stood and watch them, searching for the courage to imitate them
Then, defeated, I used to return to toy with my mind and its woodworms
And on the phone in the evening you asked me "Why aren't you talking?”

What year is it?
What day is it?
This is the time to live with you
My hands no longer tremble as you see
And I have in my soul
Deep in my soul, immense skies
And immense love
And then more, more love, love for you
Azure rivers and hills and prairies
Where my melancholies run most sweetly
The universe finds room inside of me

But the courage to live that isn't there yet.

The gardens in March dress themselves in new colours
And in that month the young women live new love stories
You were walking by my side and suddenly you said, "You die"
If you help me I am sure I can make it
But not a word clarified my thoughts
I continued to walk, leaving you actress of yesterday.

What year is it?
What day is it?
This is the time to live with you
My hands no longer tremble as you see
And I have in my soul
Deep in my soul, immense skies
And immense love
And then more, more love, love for you
Azure rivers and hills and prairies
Where my melancholies run most sweetly
The universe finds room inside of me
But the courage to live, that isn't there yet.
