Original lyrics
Une vie à t'aimer
Arrête de m’aimer
Je t’aimerai toujours
Lâche ce pinceau, quitte cette toile
Renoir / Aline
Je peindrai toujours
Arrête de peindre
Lâche ce pinceau, quitte cette toile
Renoir / Aline
Couleurs embrasées
Rouge feu, vie ôtée
Tableau que je ne peux voir
Fermer les yeux, reste le noir
En noir, ses yeux tristes
À travers l’or, son rire persiste
Aimer, rester, pleurer
Verso enlacé
Aimer, rêver, pleurer
Aimer, lâcher, pleurer
Verso effacé
Continuer à t'aimer
Continuer de peindre
Tendre la main et t'implorer
Reviens
Continuer à t'aimer
Continuer de peindre
Tendre la main et t'implorer
Reviens
Dans chaque ombre, son visage
Dans chaque ligne, son passage
Si nos pulsations jouent à contre-temps
Mon amour veille, attend
Dans chaque éclat, son doux rire
Dans chaque couleur, son sourire
Si nos pulsations jouent à contre-temps
Mon amour reste, attend

Couleurs embrasés
Rouge feu, vie ôtée
Ensemble, dans le noir
Ouvrons les yeux, cherchons l’espoir
Ta main dans la mienne
Notre peine s’égrène
Ensemble, au futur
Nous peindrons le Clair-Obscur
Peindre l'amour
Peindre la vie
Pleurer en couleur
Sur la toile notre vie s’écrit
Je t'aime
Peindre l'amour
Peindre la vie
Pleurer en couleur
Sur la toile notre vie s’écrit
Adieu
Peindre l'amour
Peindre la vie
Pleurer en couleur
Sur la toile notre vie s’écrit
Adieu

Translation
A life of loving you
Stop loving me (Alice Duport-Percier)
I will love you forever (Victor Borba)
Drop that brush, leave that canvas (Alice Duport-Percier & Victor Borba)
Renoir/Aline
I will paint forever
Stop painting
Drop that brush, leave that canvas
Renoir/Aline
Colours ablaze
Fire red, a life taken away
A painting I cannot see
Closing my eyes, only black remains
In black, his sad eyes
Through gold, his laughter lingers
In every colour, a part of him
Ever loving him, even though he's no longer here
Painting love
Painting life
Crying in colour
On the canvas, our love's enduring / ending1
I love you
Painting love
Painting life
Crying in colour
On the canvas, our love's enduring / ending
I love you
Loving, dreaming, crying
Loving, letting go, crying
Verso erased
Continuing to love you
Continuing to paint
Reaching out my hand and begging you
Come back (x2)
Within every shadow, his face
Within every line, his passing by
Even if our pulses play out-of-time
My love keeps watch, waits
Within every burst3, his sweet laugh
Within every colour, his smile
Even if our pulses play out-of-time
My love remains, waits

Colours ablaze
Fire red, a life taken away
Together, in the darkness
Let us open our eyes and look for hope
Paint love
Paint life
Cry in colour
On the canvas, our life is being written
Farewell

Cry in colour
On the canvas, our life is being written

Farewell
- 1. The original lit. says "our love remains/lasts", sung by Alice D.-P., and "our love is dying", said by Victor B., but the two sound almost the same, which I tried to keep.
- 2. This line is somewhat cryptic, and poetic. "enlacer" means to hug, to embrace, but it's a little weird to use it like that. It's often used reflexively, "ils se sont enlacés" (they hugged). Additionally, "verso" is the name of the character, but it also means the back side, the reverso. There might be a hidden meaning. Additionally, the line sounds similar to the next one, "Verso effacé" (erased).
- 3. Meaning bursting, explosion, but also connected with the phrase "burst out laugh" (éclater de rire)
- 4. or "painting" (noun)
- 5. a "brisure" is a small chip, a small broken part or the act of it breaking
- 6. "peine" is more psychical than physical
- 7. "s'égrener" to drop off the stalk, to rattle off, to tick away (time)
- 8. I think that this time, "peindre l'amour etc." is connected to what precedes, and is meant as in the future. In French, future is not modal as in English (it's a conjugation), so we cannot link several futures by saying "we will paint the chiaroscuro, paint love, paint life" etc., but I think they would have done it if it had been in English in the first place.
