Flor e o Beija-Flor

Essa é uma velha história
De uma flor e um beija-flor
Que conheceram o amor
Numa noite fria de outono
E as folhas caídas no chão
Na estação que não tem cor

E a flor conhece o beija-flor
E ele lhe apresenta o amor
E diz que o frio é uma fase ruim
Que ela era a flor mais linda do jardim
E a única que suportou
Merece conhecer o amor
E todo seu calor

Ai, que saudade de um beija-flor
Que me beijou depois voou
Pra longe demais
Pra longe de nós

Saudade de um beija-flor
Lembranças de um antigo amor
O dia amanheceu tão lindo
Eu durmo e acordo sorrindo

Translation

The Flower and the Hummingbird

This is an old story
of a flower and a hummingbird
That found love
on a cold, autumn night
The fallen leaves on the ground
in the colorless season

The flower meets the hummingbird
And he introduces love to her
He says that the cold is a unpleasant phase
That she was the garden's most beautiful flower
And the only one who endured it
Deserves to know love
And all of its warmth

Oh, what longing of a hummingbird
That kissed me and then flew away
So far away
Far away from us

Longing of a hummingbird
Memories of a love long gone
The day dawned so beautifully
I sleep and wake up smiling

Hello, just some small remarks
a) concerning some misspelling in the portugese text:
second line: umA flor
e tOdo seu calor

b) concerning translation
" She deserves it" I would skip the "she" because the meaning is: " the only one who endured it deserves..."

Instead of "old love" maybe "long gone"?

And I rather understand, that the flower is longing for the humming-bird, because he left and she has to stay; it's her thoughts.

Hi again,

Thank you for your help with this song and my translation. I like your suggestions a lot; It was a little tricky to translate some sentences I wasn't certain who was being referred to in some parts. I just hoped the meaning in my translation was understood because the song is very beautiful and I wanted the English translation to do it justice.

I will add in your corrections right now. Thank you again, I really appreciate your help!!

And I rather understand, that the flower is longing for the humming-bird, because he left and she has to stay; it's her thoughts .. so I would say " Longing FOR a humming-bird" in portugese "ter saudades de " is " to long for"
