This song was released in July 1973, it reached #1 in Oricon chart and stayed in #1 for 6 weeks, dropped down but still stayed in top 10 for another 10 weeks, and dropped down to top 100 for another 19 weeks before it disappeared from the chart. All the Oricon chart positions I usually mentioned are Oricon weekly chart (*updated every week. An Oricon #1 ranked song means it has the highest sales that week, but the position might change the next week), but even in Oricon yearly chart this song was ranked #8. The total sales accumulated are 502,000 copies.
Amachi Mari became the first Japanese singer to have 5 Oricon #1 ranked songs and set the record of occupying the #1 position in Oricon chart with a total of 23 weeks (with all her 5 songs), the highest ever at that time. But this song also became her last Oricon #1 ranked song.
She used this song in the song battle in Kohaku Uta Gassen 1973.
Amachi Mari sang this song in 1983:
^ and right after her, it was Hide & Rosanna singing this song and this song. Mari is 1 year younger than Rosanna and debuted 3 years after them.
Meanwhile, 1983 was the year when Matsuda Seiko released this song and Kawai Naoko released this song, while Akina just entered the second year of her career and collected her second Oricon #1st charted song.
Her live performance:
^ as age comparison between idols from different generation, those kids in the video are about the same age as Matsuda Seiko .
