Translation

The Dove

When I left Havana, Goodness gracious
No one saw me leave but myself
And a pretty clever girl, like a flower (1)
Came after me, yes sir..

If a dove comes to your window
Treat her with affection, for she is my own
Tell her well of the loves in your life
And Crown her with flowers, for she is mine
Oh yes, little pebble, give me your love (2)
Oh come with me, little ladybug
To where I live

Ah Chinita, that's right, give me your love
Oh come with me, little girl
To wherever is my home

Hi, Mark!
This popular "son cubano" has been translated several times, in several versions, You can check and compare. In the meantime I want to tell you that all those Cuban expressions refer to a girl:
1. guachinanga = gracious/flirtatious/deceiving, or anything like that.
2. Chinita = It is an afectionate way to call a girl. You can say, "darling, sweetheart...", or leave it as is.

Best regards

hi, thanks for the hints. could have saved me the work if the database would be in prime shape. Now I made some hyperlinks.

It was confusing cause the song is written by a man but here sung by a woman.
Now it makes more sense.

It is "guachinanga" not "guachingana".
