(Laalaayi) (English translation)

Persian
A A

Lullaby

Versions: #1#2
Please fall on us, O rain
Please fall on us, O rain
Water the parched earth*
Sing the song of life
My heart is so weary...My heart is so weary
Sing the song of life
My heart is so weary...My heart is so weary

Sleep... sleep O my pretty daughter
(sleep) On my broad chest
Because it is made of stone, just like the body of my guitar (to protect you)
Because it is made of stone, just like the body of my guitar (to protect you)

Sing a lullaby my little bird... The world is just a myth
Sing a lullaby my little bird... The world is just a myth

Every nocturne which is heard from this melancholic guitar... resembles the tears of myriads of homeless birds
Every nocturne which is heard from this melancholic guitar... resembles the tears of myriads of homeless birds

Please fall on us, O rain

Water the parched earth

Thank you for your comment.
I got your point, but I prefer "parched earth" because of its symbolic meaning in English. I will add your suggestion in the footnotes though.
